Ø  Kuala Namu International Airport

Kualanamu International Airport (Indonesian: Bandar Udara Internasional
Kualanamu) (IATA: KNOICAO: WIMM) is a newly constructed international airport, named after its location at Kuala Namu, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Indonesia, 39 kilometers fromMedan, replacing Polonia International Airport. The airport is located on the site of what was previously an oil palm plantation of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara II Tanjung Morawa. The airport is expected to become the new international transit center in Sumatra and the western part of Indonesia, which it is the second largest airport after Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, but the first airport which has a direct rail link to Medan city, the capital of North Sumatra.
The airport is Indonesia's second largest, after Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, with a 224,298 m² passengers terminal and will eventually have a capacity of 50 million passengers (2030), a figure if realised today would place the airport in the top 10 busiest by passenger numbers in the world, although by the time this figure is achieved it is likely that there will be many airports carrying more passengers.
Airside facilities would be controlled by the Indonesian government, while landside facilities would be owned by a joint venture with PT Angkasa Pura II, which is expected to provide $350 million as an initial investment in return for a 30-year lease, after which ownership would revert to PT Angkasa Pura II. The airport will be linked to the city of Medan by a $10,7 million railway project. A highway about 18 km also being planned to connect the airport to Medan. It will cost $1,5 billions and eventually have 4 interchanges, 4 underpasses, 7 topperpasses, and 3 toll gates.
The airport is the first in Indonesia with a publicly accessible check-in area (current Indonesian airports restrict access to ticket holders with security at the gate). This means a much larger and more spacious check-in area than the existing airport. The airport is being designed by Wiratman & Associates, who also designed several other new airports and office buildings in Indonesia. Computer renderings showing a T-shape design are on the company's website. Another rendering and masterplan can be found in Angkasa Pura II website. Also a visualization of the future airport video.

Ø  Maimun Palace
This building is dominated by yellow colors. However, do not connect it with the color of a political party. Yellow was the typical color of the Malay. There are family photographs, furnishings, and old weapons inside the building. The Maimoon Palace was the legacy of Deli Sultanate. Maimoon palace was located in Brigjen Katamso Street, Medan. Sultan Deli, Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah, had established this palace. The designer was an Italia architect, and finished in 1888. Built on a land measuring 2.772 m2 wide the palace building is facing to east, and become the centre of the Deli kingdom. This palace consisted of two floors that were divided into three parts, which is the main building, the left wing, and the right wing. In front, around 100 meters, stood Al-Maksum mosque that are well known as Medan's Great mosque.
In the guest room (balairung) we will encounter the throne that was dominated by yellow color. Crystal lights lighted the throne, a form of influence of European culture. The same influences are appeared in the palace furnishings like the seat, the table, toilet and the cupboard and the door, headed to balairung. The room measuring 412 m2 was used for the coronation agenda of Sultan Deli or the other traditional agenda. Balairung was also used as the place where the Sultan received praised from his relatives and family in Islam holidays.
Further more, the number of the rooms was 40, 20 rooms in the upper floor, the Sultan's throne and 20 rooms underneath, not include 4 bathrooms, the warehouse, the kitchen, and the prison in the basement. Interesting if we observe this palace architectural design. The blend between the Islam tradition and European culture was boldly implemented. Apart from the balairung, the building base also showed Europe influence. Some of the building material was imported from Europe, like floor tiles, marble, and terrazzo.
The pattern of Dutch architecture with the door and wide and tall windows, as well as Spanish stylish doors became a part of the Maimoon Palace. The Dutch influenced was also seen in the marble inscription in front of the marble ladder that was written with Latin letter in Netherlands language.
The Islam influence was seen in the form of the curve or arcade in several parts of the palace roof. The curve that had the shape of the overturn boat that was known with Persian Curve was often met on the buildings in the Middle East, Turkey, and India region. The Maimoon palace was one of the most beautiful buildings in Medan. His location is easy to be reach, both from Polonia Airport (about 10 km) and Belawan Port (about 28 km). This historic building was open public every day from 08.00 until 17.00.

The Sultan was deliberately developing the majestic Mosque, because according to his principle that it is more important than his own grand palace,Maimoon Palace. Funding construction this mosque borne by Sultan, but it is said Tjong A Fie, the famous Chinese-Indonesian in Medan who life in same era with Sultan Ma'mun Al Rasyd also contribute to fund the development of this mosque
At first this Mosque is designed by the Dutch architect Van Erp who also designed The Maimoon Palace, but then his process is done by JA Tingdeman. Forest area was designated a conservation area nature reserves, since the Dutch colonial government in 1922. Back then, the area designated as a natural reserve coversan area of 221 ha and is still maintained until now.

Although the determination of Anai Valley forest into a nature reserve area is long enough, but its existence may be said to be less known. This is due to lack of socialization and promotion done by the local government. In addition, tourist attraction Anai Valley Waterfalls is more widely known thanthe Anai Valley Nature Reserve.

Actually in the Anai Valley Nature Reserve plenty of charm that can be obtained, rangingfrom natural beauty to the wealth of flora and fauna.

The natural beauty that can be seen, namely, three waterfalls and a lake where the water is bluish in color. The third waterfall is located in the western part of Anai Valley Nature Reserve.

Waterfall iconic even Anai Valley West Sumatra is located on the edge of the causeway, and is known as Anai Valley Waterfall.

While two other waterfalls covered by forest cover, thus not known by many travelers. For tourists who want to see the two waterfalls, can travel about 15 minutes from the location of Anai Valley Waterfall.

Nevertheless, although no time to browse the protected forest Anai Valley, tourists canenjoy the charm that exists outside the visible from the highway. In addition Anai ValleyWaterfall through the steep hills and fell right on the side of the road into a scenic feast for the eyes.

From the side of the road can also take a look at Batang Anai River water flowing from Mount Singgalang on the north side, and creeks from Mount Marapi. Anai Valley sceneryquite enchanting. Not hard to find a tree with a trunk of a circle wells. Tree roots danglingwe can enjoy in front of the eyes.

In the midst of lush trees and winding road, we'll see anyway railroad ran between the hills, just above the road. Very interesting and fascinating. Contour railroad bridge at Anai Valley will remind us of the same bridge in Purwakarta, West Java, when we crossed thehighway orientation.

There are several railway bridge at Anai Valley, one of the bridges along the 50-metersteel plate is very high because they have to traverse forest and Batang Anai Valley Anaiunderneath. Although less neglected because it is not used, this rail line is still intactphysical form. Reportedly, at Anai Valley railway line will be revitalized. Hopefully soon to be realized.

If a visit to the Valley Anai, you should not when the rainy season. Minang people said,Batang Anai was temperamental. Although beautiful eyes staring, but very fierce when it'supset.

When the heavy rains came, the water is not only overflowed overflowing into the street, but also break down the wall if strength is maximum. So, do not be surprised if the traffic inthis lane suddenly jammed for kilometers if Batang Anai was angry.

So, if the intention of crossing and enjoy Anai Valley, came when the weather is friendly.
